Health & Safety

Insurance

There is public liability insurance for up to £5 million on the field as required by Surrey County Council.

However, it is a requirement by the proprietor, Alex Turner, that all groups attending have their own insurance in place.

All attending staff, parents, carers and guardians will be responsible for the health and safety of their young people, visiting at their own risk.

First Aid

Please bring your own First Aid kit with you. We do have a well stocked one at Brars Field should it be needed in an emergency, but your own should comply with your own risk assessment.

Bookings & Cancellations

We try to give everyone regular bookings if they would like them but if you need to cancel please try and give as much notice as possible as there might be someone else who can use your slot.

Staffing

The staff-to-young person ration should ideally not be less than one adult to two young people. Any young person who usually has a 1:1 should have the same level of care and supervision whilst at the field.

Whilst Alex will be on site throughout your sessions, and will help run activities, this cannot be guaranteed and she should not take the place of a member of staff in terms of the ratios.

Clothing & Footwear

Depending on the time of year, it could be dusty, or it could be muddy! Wear old clothes, trainers in dry weather and wellies or similar in wet weather.

Risk Assessment

Briars Field as a comprehensive Risk Benefit policy and Safeguarding policy available on request. Prior to your first session a full risk assessment by each group needs to be completed however is usual for your organisation and a copy emailed to Alex.
